Take 1 microliter of your plasmid DNA, digest it, and run it in lane 1 of the gel. This 7 kb plasmid is digested into 3 fragments: 4 kb, 2 kb, and 1 kb. Run the DNA markers of known concentrations in lane 2. You find that the intensity of the 2 kb band of your plasmid is similar to the 20 ng marker. Calculate the concentration of your plasmid DNA.

Okay so an example is when your producing erythropoietin using the two different methods. Do they do the same thing just different ways or do they work together to produce more erythropoietin? I.e. does PCR create more of it (because only a small amount can be extracted) and then recombinant DNA technology clones it or do both processes clone the gene for insertion into the body? Any help is greatly appreciated.

If all the cells in a human body share the same DNA. How is it possible that they can code for different proteins ?

How would this relate to genetics?
How would knowing that DNA can be separated from cell components and still live help society?

I want serious answers please.

I was just curious if it's possible to mix human dna with animal, and would the human become or take on that animal that the dna was molded into. I'm talking about Splicing from Batman Beyond, could that be possible and have scientist attempted it?

Some have argued that DNA samples for pre-trial identification is a violation of their 5th Amendment right to be free from incriminating themselves. What do you think? Does the 5th amendment extend to DNA swabs?

When I said efficient, I was strictly refering to data stored per unit volume. The question came from sheer curiosity, and I have no delusions about storing my music or emails using genetic material. Wikipedia says that the human DNA contains information equivalent to a "book over one billion words long." Approximately how many megabytes is one billion words? Assume that the words are in English and of average length.

I have done a wheat germ DNA extraction and it's great since it's very cheap and easy to do. My teacher asked what the benefits would have been if we used bananas or raspberries to extract the DNA.

Well, I am thinking of taking a dna test. But i want to take it without my parents knowing. Cause I just want to know first. Like I dont want to hurt them too much. So, am i able to get a dna test without my parents knowledge and how?
